So after seeing little to write about this series, I decided to extend the posts on Fate Kaleid to 3 ep hoping to have something interesting. And…there’s really not much to write about other than some really good action scenes.
Much like I mentioned before time and time again, the problem with this show is that whatever it does feels like nothing but a cash grab. From cameos of Saber Alter to seeing Gae Bolg to stab Caster mid-air and even Miyu questioning the concept of aerodynamics, everything feels like nothing but cheap fanservice or simply because they can do it anyway.
As for the action…well I have to admit that they are pretty impressive. Parody or not, they’re well-choreographed, fast-paced, and make use of the Noble Phantasms very well. These are also the few times when the animation looks stunning. Granted they never reach UFOTABLE quality, but it’s still fluid, detailed, and full of great lighting.
Not to say that this show is completely void of any substance in story, but the fact that it’s mostly a parody means that any “plot twists” or “character developments” tend to be directly ripped off from the Fate Universe or other Magical Girl Shows. Possible conflict between Miyu and Illya is cut off for the sake of parodying UBW by having Illya be the all-powerful archer.
And it’s because of this that this post is so short; there really isn’t much to talk about this series. In fact, I’m going to extend my next post of this to 4 ep so I can reach straight to the end. If Silver Links is being lazy about making this show, I think I have a right to be lazy too.
