It seems that Dragons are overpowered in almost every form of fantasy, and this is no exception. But who cares about that when a parent meet-up involves a casual conversation with Satan’s father?
So we saw Vali meet up with Issei before, but he simply brushes by as if it was just a greeting. However, this does lead into some more details about the Two Dragons, and how they were powerful enough to force the 3 factions to proclaim a truce in order to fight them. From then on, the dragons were sealed as sacred gears and fought throughout history while in human hosts.
But really all of that is summed up in a couple minutes. The rest is all goofy fun, such as when Issei manages to make a perfect clay sculpture of Rias nude in class. Or when Xenovia seems to ignore all common sense and straight up ask Issei to “practice” with her while holding a handful of condoms. She even gives Asia one despite knowing what it was until now(the purity is long gone :3).
Of course that’s just a taster compared to what happens later. Sona’s formidable sister(Leviathen), who was hyped as one of the 4 overlords, turns out to be a magical girl cosplayer who loves to dote on her sister. If her and Azazel were any indication, it’s obvious by now that these overlords are all-powerful party people, which is ironic considering that they’re capable of freezing Kokabiel for eternity.
And how could we forget the fact that Issei’s parents seem perfectly fine drinking with Satan’s father and sharing embarrasing videos of their kids. It’s a bizarre situation, but relateable to those familiar with awkward in-laws. And hey, it leads to a sweet moment where Issei comforts Rias in his bedroom, so it’s okay. Seems like Rias has been holding back a spare bishop that she couldn’t handle, and she’ll finally release it now that she has proper experience. Guess we’ll finally see what was in that locked room.
